Square Meal review of Rasa Samudra:

You can tell that Rasa Samudra is part of Das Sreedharan’s mini-chain – partly because of the dayglo-pink exterior, partly because of the high-quality Keralan food. Seafood is a focal point: start with crab thoran in which the shellfish is simmered in a pungent sauce of coconut, mustard seeds & ginger. Mains include the delicious konju manga curry in which prawns, mangoes, coconut & spices are blended to tangy perfection, & kappayum meenum, kingfish cooked in a sauce made from onions, turmeric, chilli & cassava. Although prices are higher than the average Indian, portions are large & flavours are far more interesting than the norm. Just remember not to fill up too much on the poppadums & chutneys that hit the table almost as soon as you sit down.
