This West End outpost of the famous Stoke Newington Indian continues to bang the drum for Keralan cooking. Ignore the poppadoms & pick instead on other rice-flour snacks, such as achappam with vibrant pickles, while perusing the menu. Try crunchy starters such as battered plantain, baked puff pastries filled with lamb or one of several dosas ahead of meat, fish & vegetarian curries – chicken biryani, tilapia in a thick sauce of shallots, tamarind & chillis, or beetroot & spinach in a fierily spiced yoghurt sauce. Side orders include some terrific breads while there are takeaway lunchboxes for local workers. The standard of cooking is consistently decent & prices keen, so even if the dated pink colour scheme isn’t suitable for business dining, this is somewhere to remember for personal use.
