Playing second fiddle to somewhere like Foliage is not an easy task, but the Mandarin Oriental’s more low-key restaurant certainly makes the most of itself. With fresh, breezy surrounds & much more easy-going fare than its sibling, its fanbase extends beyond hotel guests. Overlook typical hotel bites of club sandwiches & burgers, because there’s a lot more exciting options on offer. Dishes display a strong Asian bent: sharing plates include a selection of dim sum, & tandoori chicken wings with mini naan bread, while you might find main courses of silky black cod marinated in miso, pad thai, or wok-fried Peking duck with baby corn & cashew nuts. The outstanding £33 three-course weekday set lunch comes with unlimited wine, while breakfast & afternoon tea options are also popular.
