Baby Foot – the French version of table football – provides the focus for a gentle, continental take on the beautiful game at this amiable & easy-going Shoreditch bar. Buy a token for 80p to play; ‘winner stays on’ is the norm. Bar Kick foregoes the area’s obsessive mode-ishness for a youth-hostel bonhomie that’s fostered by a long & interesting collection of imported beers. The line-up includes Super Bock Stout from Portugal, Peruvian Cusquena, & Krombacher from Germany. The wine list is a Euro blend of French, Italian & Spanish bottles with plenty of choice below £20; cocktails kick off at £6.95. Nourishing sandwiches, including grilled chorizo & rocket, are supplemented by big-flavoured main courses (Toulouse sausages with roasted garlic mash, for instance) & a daily list of specials along the lines of lamb tagine with prunes & sun-dried tomatoes.

I really cannot get enough of this place!! During the day its great for a bite to eat and a relaxed coffee. I recommend the daily specials, they are always less than £8 per dish, always made fresh…and always delicious. I've never been disappointed with any of the food at bar Kick…EVER!!! It's not only the food that's great, the cocktails are made with real love and pride by the staff (who are from all over the world which matches all the flags on the ceilings!) and theres a better choice of beer here than most bars can even attempt to offer. I'm not usually keen on watching live football in pubs in England, but bar Kick doesn't feel like England and it's full of multi-national people (and full of girls which makes a change)…it makes watching live football like the Euro and the World Cup super exciting! As bars go, this is the one that I always make a friend or two in. Fussball (or tablefootball as its called here) is quite simply the best pub game to make friends over, who need pool when 4 of you can play a game of fussball??! If you've never been there…go, you'll love it (and probably make a friend!) x ;-)
