What was formerly Quince at the May Fair Hotel has now morphed into the May Fair Kitchen. Equal billing is given to aged meats from Alden’s renowned butchers, seafood courtesy of Mayfair specialist James Knight and vegetarian specialities with a Franco-Italian slant (think quail’s egg, blue cheese and lemon ravioli). Grilled steaks, BBQ short ribs, veal chops and lamb cutlets sit alongside roast free-range chicken and a four-part porcine extravaganza, while fish fans might be tempted by mighty Atlantic lobsters, organic salt-crusted salmon or a whole lemon sole. Sides, sauces and butters can be matched with just about anything on the menu, and there’s a generous choice of wines and cocktails too.
