Square Meal Review of May Fair Kitchen at The May Fair ?

Formerly Quince, the May Fair Hotel’s restaurant has ditched its Middle Eastern shtick and opted for a much plainer approach. Menacing lobsters and rows of oysters rest on piles of ice, while huge fridges sport hunks of beef and whole chickens – the building blocks for a refreshingly straightforward menu: simply choose your meat, fish or veggie option, plus a side and a sauce, with help from the chatty, knowledgeable staff. There are no starters, but a serving of giant tiger prawns with softly spiced chorizo and punchy Thai chilli sauce is big enough for two to share comfortably. Next, try a perfectly timed 28-day aged sirloin with beefy bordelaise sauce or salt-coated tuna cooked rare with a pretty niçoise salad. Striking yellow awnings and an all-glass frontage have brightened things up noticeably, and you can ogle passing super cars from the pavement tables.
