Located directly opposite Ibérica Canary Wharf in a leafy corner of Cabot Square, La Terraza offers a taste of Madrid’s famous ‘terrace culture’ in E14. Open from brunch-time onwards, it deals in pure-bred jamón Ibérico, charcuterie, bocadillos (sourdough baguettes) and pinchos (savoury bites piled onto slices of bread) – try snow-crab meat with mayonnaise and trout roe or green asparagus with smoked salmon, quail’s egg and avruga caviar. The limited-edition menu also features a few salads and conventional tapas plates such as tortillas or stuffed piquillo peppers – plus strawberry soup and tarta de Santiago for afters. Sherry, cava and bespoke cocktails suit the setting, but the drinks list also has a clutch of wines by the ‘porrón’ for those who want to get into the mood. Otherwise, stay sober with a glass of horchata. Note: No bookings.
