Following Gordon Ramsay’s departure, the smart money was always on Simon Rogan to take over the restaurant at Claridge’s. With two-Michelin-starred L'Enclume at the very top of its game and rave reviews piling up for his two eateries in Manchester’s Midland Hotel, the time was right for a permanent home in London (in the wake of extended pop-up Roganic). The Cumbria-based superstar has named his new venture Fera (after the Latin word for wild) – a reference to the fact that much of his food is hard-wired to the soil and firmly in tune with nature. Although precise details are yet to be announced, it’s clear that the cooking will revolve around two multi-course tasting menus in addition to a la carte and set lunch deals, with Rogan’s executive chef Dan Cox overseeing the kitchen. As for the look of the dining room, think vintage art-deco glamour meets contemporary chic.
