Following the success of their café and bakery in Shoreditch, Sir Terence Conran and Peter Prescott have opened a second Albion within the Lord Rogers-designed NEO Bankside behind the Tate Modern. Like its sibling, this branch has a shop and market stall selling fresh veg, organic meat, poultry, fish and specialist foodie provisions, while the self-styled ‘caff’ deals in proper British grub – from breakfast kippers and devilled kidneys to trencherman platefuls of shepherd’s pie, sausage and mash or Irish stew. There is also an extensive selection of home-baked breads, cakes, buns, sandwiches and Neal’s Yard cheeses for those who want to buy and go. The drinks list runs from London-brewed and Kentish beers to wines from renowned French regions – alongside some bottles from English vineyards. No bookings.
