Square Meal Review of Hana ?

Persia comes to West Hampstead in the shape of Hana – although there’s precious little Middle Eastern flamboyance or exoticism about its understated, low-key dining room. The venue makes its case with an authentic menu that puts invigorating salads, sizzling grills and slow-cooked stews centre stage. A manageable list of cold and hot appetisers ranges from dezfouli (a collation of fresh pomegranate, cucumber, dried mint, angelica powder and lemon) to traditional noodle soup with beans, vegetables and soured yoghurt, while mains feature numerous variations on the kebab theme, as well as warming dishes from the oven such as khoroshteh bademjan (chicken leg in a stew of tomatoes, aubergine and soured grapes). Helpings of saffron rice and generously proffered home-baked organic flatbread (taftoon) are ideal for mopping up the rich juices.
