Tooting’s restaurant scene should receive a welcome lift with the launch of Tota – a family-friendly, all-day eatery on the neighbourhood’s main drag. Breakfast and brunch should suit local shoppers and the office crowd, while light lunches will put the emphasis on trendy sandwiches, burgers, salads and other daytime staples. Come evening, the kitchen will roll up its sleeves for a grander menu of eclectic dishes ranging from confit duck with ginger and orange sauce to roast hake with peperonata, chorizo and parsley crumbs served with ‘paella’ croquettes or miso-glazed salmon with pickled cucumber, black beans and sushi rice. Pasta, risottos and grills will also feature, while desserts will keep it traditional with the likes of pineapple upside-down cake.
