Largely unheralded, down a staircase off the restaurant, this branch of the Piccolino chain now sports a new ‘cicchetti bar and late lounge’. Done out in Mussolini-chic vanilla and chocolate tones, with chrome, dark mirrors and mint leather stools at a theatrical bar, its interior chimes well with the Mayfair address. A DJ spins thudding Euro-house while a chef theatrically preps coppa, salami and traditional Venetian bàcari staples in a glass-fronted cubicle: crostini, tartares, calamari, beef carpaccio (from £3 upwards). Still milking the north Italian theme, the drinks list rolls out bellinis and other Prosecco-based cocktails as well as negroni, americano and various riffs on martini (good with plates of Parma ham and pear).
