Set in the reboot of an old market boozer, this offshoot of the Cask in Pimlico hit the ground running with its armoury of over 20 spouts dispensing hoppy holy water for London’s beer pilgrims. Selections from Dark Star & Thornbridge are eagerly embraced along with obscure ales such as Magic Rock Dark Arts, produced in Huddersfield by one of the many new revivalist microbreweries. Elsewhere, fizzy, fruity Clerkenwell lager (actually brewed in Denmark) drinks like a roll in the hay. Knowledgeable staff actively encourage sampling, & the Bible-thick list of bottled beers (Britain’s biggest, apparently) is a dizzying read – with prices to match. There’s also a wide range of bourbon & whisky, but food is limited to Scotch eggs & pork pies. Mind you, nobody is here for the grub.
