This Chinatown noodle comes with Gallic flavouring. The London outpost of a trio of in-demand Parisian joints, its prescriptive potions include a negroni de Provence whose lavender & Garrigue herbals hijack the Florentine classic to Marseilles. Seasonally evocative autumn in Normandy (a Dupont VSOP Calvados & cider sip) is fine at £10, but deeper pockets are required for pricey calls such as vieux carré à l’ancienne – a New Orleans-style old fashioned using vintage Cognac & rye (£250!). Ranged over two intimate floors of a subtly reworked Georgian townhouse, the vibe is low-key literary salon, while the crowd is a potpourri of decorative petals, cocktail purists, famous faces & attention-seekers. Classy & self-assured, this should be a default Soho shout, but mutterings suggest some authentically Parisian froideur & serious ‘attitude’ on the door.
