This glamorous rooftop cocktail bar/belvedere recently underwent a lavish upgrade, which may explain why baseline prices have also rocketed skywards – up to nearly 30 per cent, year-on-year. Still, with great sunsets over picture-postcard London to admire and designer patio furniture to loll on, there are plenty of takers for £14 cocktails (plus £5 cover charge for entry after 4pm). Consider a Leila lavender martini, hot chilli woman (chilli and truffle vodkas, elderflower, lemon and vanilla syrup) or umami – a sake-jito with plum vodka and lychees added for good measure. Alternatively, choose from a dozen wines by the glass, Champagne from £75 per bottle or Peroni Gran Riserva – the current beer to name-drop. Food includes brochettes, salads, blinis, ices and ‘popcakes'. Heaters, throws and canvas-covered boltholes act as an insurance policy against the English weather.
