Individuality is the key at this debonair restaurant-cum-cocktail bar at the calmer end of Upper Street. It’s a father & son business, & the Messrs Zilouf have surrounded themselves with
people who like to think differently. The menu is an enticing east/west fusion, so you might find Thai shredded duck salad with caramelised salted peanuts & spicy nahm jim sauce, or fore rib of
beef with Asian greens, double-cooked chips, wasabi hollandaise, herb butter & horseradish cream. Meat comes from Smithfield, fish from Billingsgate & bread, ice creams & sauces are
made in-house. There’s a sophisticated wine list, but it’s the cocktails that bat their eyelids at you. Purées, syrups & spirit infusions (all made here) go into stunners such as the Japanese
75 – jasmine tea-infused gin, grapefruit gomme, lemon juice & Champagne. How terribly elegant.
A late Friday afternoon is how we ended up at Ziloufs! We weren’t sure what we were expecting when we went into Ziloufs. We were after a relaxed afternoon with some tea!Surprisingly, Ziloufs was a spacious place with a separate dining area and another area near to the bar. The latte was made of strong coffee and it had a good depth to it...

Located towards the Highbury end of Upper Street, we entered a seemingly regular pub, the clientele young, gorgeous and trendy (we fitted it perfectly, obviously). At the back, a dining room, cosy and quirky - some of the wallpaper could be construed as slightly rude, were they leaves, were they...?

Ziloufs is an all day venue serving breakfast, lunch, dinner and a great selection of cocktails. The morning after the night before, we wanted a hearty brunch to combat the effects of what started of as one drink at our local (yep, you know that drill). Ziloufs is local and having passed it a few times, I was keen to see what the morning buzz was about. It keeps it simple mostly with a selection of fresh fruit drinks, full english (meat and veg options); eggs, bacon and the like served in various mixes, and a curve ball with veggiemite on the menu!...
