Decked out like a folksy kids’ playroom, this funky daytime café runs hand in hand with Wiveton Hall and its highly productive farm. Food ‘miles’ are more likely to be measured in ‘yards’ here, as
the little eatery is surrounded by fields of PYO asparagus, strawberries, raspberries and artichokes, with free-range chickens scratching about in the earth. ‘From farm to table’ is the kitchen’s
seasonal mantra and it makes great use of local provisions for a straight-talking lunch menu of soups, terrines, savoury tarts and dishes such as pan-fried pigeon breast with a salad of ham hock,
roasted beetroot and Puy lentil salad. The freshly baked cakes are also a joy to behold. It’s said to be a favourite of Norfolk goddess Delia Smith, and Kate Middleton has eaten here too. Book
ahead to be sure of a seat.
