Squaremeal Review of Truc Vert ?

Named after a beach in southern France, Truc Vert’s laid-back, café vibe is a relaxed anomaly in Grosvenor Square’s formal orbit, but don’t imagine it stretches to sunbeds & surfing bums. Instead expect Gallic rusticity, rickety schoolroom furniture, racks of wine, shelves of provisions & masses of greenery, indoors & out. Lunch is custom-built for grab-a-bite shoppers & office workers, with daily quiches (smoked salmon with broccoli, spring onion & feta) & an array of jazzed-up salads (a combo of steamed cauliflower, new potatoes, carrot & olive salsa, say). Come twilight, tables are clothed & the lights go down as the kitchen moves into bistro mode for the likes of duck confit with red cabbage & roasted onions. Wine is honestly priced, making those alfresco tables eminently attractive for a drink or two.

TheFoodaholic :: TheFoodaholic: REVIEW: Truc Vert, North Audley Street, Mayfair

Mayfair seems to be quickly becoming a place I'm spending most of my time, but not by choice. In the last three years the amount of new restaurants opening in this prestigious part of London has gone crazy - but at the same time there has also been a lot of closures too. Right now London is becoming a foodie capital of the world, but its still got a long way to go. Truc Vert on the other hand is a restaurant which has been around for a few years, yet surprisingly not many people have head of it - at least not who I speak to anyway. Truc Vert's cosy interior can leave you feeling as though you were in the rural countryside...
