It may be housed in a rather drab office building, but this high-ceilinged branch of Davy’s looks out admiringly at St Paul’s Cathedral over the road. True to its name, the bright and breezy interior is peppered with oak wine barrels, and there’s a mezzanine upstairs to cope with the overspill on Friday nights. Knowledgeable service is a plus point and staff are happy to guide punters through the trademark Davy’s wine list as well as the menu of plain-speaking wine bar food – anything from charcuterie sharing platters and pulled-brisket sarnies to Cumberland sausage and mash, or wild-mushroom risotto. The place is geared up for big parties and corporate bashes, but you can escape the mayhem by heading off to the south-facing terrace for some fresh air. Breakfast is served until 11am.
