SquareMeal Review of The Wick at Both Ends

A splendid addition to Sheffield’s increasing hipster scene, the Wick sits in pole position on West Street. The trend for mid-20th century furniture finds its zenith here: G Plan sideboards, Ercol chairs and three-legged coffee tables in the lounging zone are more shabby-Eames than shabby-chic. Floors are scrubbed wood and the walls are papered with wild images – not great for a midweek hangover, but on a Sunday there’s a restorative roast if you’ve burned the candle at both ends. ‘Wick and mix’ tapas (three pieces) could include stuffed mushrooms with bloody Mary and carpaccio of smoked venison, but you can also get tasty Yorkshire won tons and homemade burgers. There are bigger plates too – ham, egg and chips, lamb neck with colcannon, or perhaps partridge, served pink. To drink, local beers, cocktails and wines by the glass are also great value.

Great cocktails
Yet to try their food, but Wick's cocktails are the best I've had in Sheffield.
