DUE TO OPEN 11 SEPTEMBER 2015, SOFT LAUNCH WITH 50% OFF FOOD FROM 7 SEPTEMBER
The Truscott Cellar is about to rise like a phoenix out of what was Chinese restaurant Weng Wah House, and the transformation should be absolutely worth a visit. Expect a 60-cover wine bar spread over two floors, decorated in dark wood and marble. It’s set to be a sumptuous place to while away the hours on seriously good food: Aiden McGee (formerly head chef at Dinner by Heston) is in charge of the kitchen and he’ll produce sustainable and locally sourced ingredients for a modern British menu, which should be both temptingly familiar (scallops, smoked bacon, peas, lemon and truffle) and off the beaten track (veal sweetbreads, lavender honey, hazelnuts and endive) – all with matching wines, of course.
