Once an industrial wasteland, Glasgow’s Finnieston district is now a cool regenerated hub of restaurants, bars and other hangouts. This self-named bar/restaurant is tailor-made for the
neighbourhood’s flashy new image with its stylish interiors, Scottish seafood and impressive line-up of 60 gin-based cocktails. Inside, it’s all dark polished woodwork and smart fittings, with lots
of booths, a fascinating decorative ceiling and a lively menu that kicks off with West Kilbride oysters – perhaps served with Bowmore 12-year-old whisky ‘mist’, pickled shallots and Tabasco. There
are also trendy small plates (think hand-dived scallops with Louisiana crab cakes and sweetcorn relish), plus shellfish platters and mains such as brill bourguignon with whipped potato and parmesan
crisp. Otherwise, the day’s catch can be served plain, while 50p from every portion of fish and chips goes to the local Fisherman’s Mission.
