Run by the guys from the renowned Ship in Wandsworth, this updated Young's house now offers a comfy, cosy Victorian-style lounge and suntrap patio garden. Full-blown lunch and dinner menus (with
kids' specials for a fiver) might typically include soup and a pie of the day, macaroni cheese, wiener schnitzel with fries and pickles, modish sandwiches, rib-sticking cherry jam roly-poly and
Sunday roasts (served until 8pm). Bar snacks encompass meaty, moist pork pie, anchovy toast and sloe gin-cured smoked salmon from local boys Sipsmith – who also supply the base for a good G&T
with a choice of homemade ‘infusion' tonics. Sambrook's ales (brewed in Wandsworth) line up alongside the Young's range, and the sensible wine list hovers around the £20 mark for the likes of
Aussie Crystal Brook Shiraz. On Sunday evenings, live Irish music provides the craic.
