Making the most of its location in one of Sheffield’s historic cutlery works, this aptly named family-run restaurant generates all the conviviality of a particularly enjoyable night out. Driving
the whole thing along is an enthusiastic team with a penchant for bold flavours. Provenance is British, but inspiration comes from France and beyond – particularly when the kitchen wheels out its
full carte at the weekend. Starters of Oughtibridge wild garlic pannacotta with Yorkshire cheese fritters and candied pine nut powder might give way to smoked pork belly with duck egg, homemade
black pudding, garden peas and shoots or Whitby shellfish risotto with local asparagus and toasted seeds. To finish, perhaps try the ’homage to rhubarb’ or Richmond maids of honour with almond
brittle, pear and Amaretto sorbet. Pre/post-theatre menus are terrific value, and Tuesday’s ‘pie night’ is great fun.
