Swagged curtains, picture-lined walls and patterned carpets set the scene for an old-fashioned treat at Seymour’s at the Leonard Hotel. A good central meeting point for tea with chums or visiting
relatives, the converted 18th-century townhouse property is just a short stroll from Oxford Street and Park Lane, and is blessedly not as hectic as the former, nor as snooty as the latter. A
traditional afternoon tea (£15.50) is served daily, and it’s a simple, straightforward offering of four classic sandwiches (salmon, cheese and ham, cucumber, egg mayonnaise) plus two home-baked
scones and pastries apiece. The tea selection is brief, but its ticks all the boxes from classic English breakfast to fashionable green tea and white jasmine.
