Square Meal Review of Quo Vadis ?

Chef Jeremy Lee’s arrival at this Soho legend in 2012 provided current owners the Hart brothers with the personality it needed to really swing. Quo Vadis certainly looks the part, from the ‘Karl Marx was here’ plaque and the Union Jack flying to the old neon sign that hints at history beyond the gorgeous stained glass windows. Meanwhile, Soho’s establishment crowd (a louche lot) gaily dine at white-clothed tables in ravishing, mirrored art-deco surrounds. Lee takes a patriotic seasonal approach, cooks ‘his favourite things’ and serves them confidently unadorned. The results are “sometimes quirky” but “reliably excellent”: a plate of brill and asparagus arrives with lashings of buttery sauce, the smoked eel sandwich is a winning combo with a horseradish kick, and hogget comes with magnificent chips. Puds such as almond tart with greengages also follow the calendar. Informed staff deliver “a masterclass in front-of-house skills”, and the wine list is a joy.

Samphire and Salsify :: Quo Vadis

Quo Vadis has a wonderful location right in the heart of Dean Street in Soho. Its stained glass windows give it the appearance of a private members club and it’s somewhere I’ve wanted to try for ages but have never got around to. I thought it would be the perfect place for a friend’s birthday dinner and luckily, I wasn’t wrong!...

FoodiesOnTheProwl FoodiesOnTheProwl :: Quo Vadis, Nov 2012

Quo Vadis is one of the eating establishments owned by Sam and Eddie Hart, who also own Barrafina and Fino. They clearly have and eye for good chefs and know how to run a restaurant. Quo Vadis is no exception in that sense. The service is exemplary, the decoration nice and the food of high standard. The cuisine at Quo Vadis is however different from Fino and Barrafina in that the latter two restaurants focus on Spanish cuisine whereas Quo Vadis is centred around modern British cuisine...

Frenchy love food :: QUO VADIS

This week I had lunch for the first time at Quo Vadis. I really like the entrance decoration with a massive table and a floral selection on top of it.
My friend and I didn't have any booking but we manage to get a table, the staff was very friendly from the hostess at the entrance to our waiter.
Decoration on the table was quite simple but very cute, table cloth and flowers.

To start I opted for the spalla served with pear and fennel salad while my friend had the salt cod, sea kale and butter sauce. I found the balance of the sweet pear and salted spalla very interesting. It was very good, and light,...

The Hedonist :: Quo Vadis – Review

Hospitality runs through the veins of brothers Sam and Eddie Hart. Their parents own Hambleton Hall, the country house hotel and restaurant in remote Rutland. Their first venture was the smart Fitzrovia Spanish restaurant Fino. followed by the game changing Barrafina tapas bar in Soho (Barrafina 2 is to open soon in Covent Garden). Then the dapper duo bought up Quo Vadis in Dean St from a certain Marco Pierre White, completely refurbished the space and created a rather louche private members club up top...
