SquareMeal Review of Patty & Bun Richmond Road

Bronze Award

One of the main culprits behind the deification of dude food – and our expanding waistlines – this temple to burgers has enjoyed legions of fans (some of whom even wear its merchandise) since its beginnings as a pop-up. The bricks-and-mortar offering is as simple now as it was then, but the big flavours of each dish betray a fiendish attention to detail: the signature ‘ari gold’ burger uses Aberdeen Angus beef and homemade smoky mayo; the skin-on chips are enhanced with rosemary salt; and the confit chicken wings in the ‘winger winger chicken dinner’ are so tender and moreishly smoky they almost steal the show. But back to the burgers: Londoners just can’t get enough of these buns, so prepare to queue for your table at any time of day. Inside you’ll find a laid-back atmosphere, neon-lit wooden booths, eclectic tunes – and some of the best patties in town.
