As the name suggests, the Old Tree Bakery (aka Daiwan Bee) is a pastry and cake specialist, but it also serves up authentic Taiwanese street food for curious Londoners and homesick Taipei émigrés.
Inside, it’s done out like a clean-lined contemporary Asian canteen, with a kitchen that knocks out all manner of fascinating regional delights: aromatic homemade Taiwanese sausages, oyster
omelettes and delicate salt-and-pepper tofu sit alongside rice dishes including the signature pork belly with stewed egg or stir-fried chicken with chilli, garlic and black sesame oil, all
accompanied by soup and ‘pickle relish’. You can also get various composite bento boxes too. Old Tree also has an intriguing drinks list topped by a range of ‘ice freezer’ sips and super-trendy
tapioca-based ‘bubble teas’; also try the milk tea with added crème caramel. Note: cash only.
