This long-serving Italian is credited with introducing Glasgow to the delights of wood-fired pizzas back in 1965, and has been going down a storm with locals, tourists and visiting celebs ever
since. Following a recent change of ownership, the interior has been given a facelift, with chic new fittings, modern booths and tables fashioned in sultry, soothing colours – although it’s
business as usual in the open kitchen. There are around 15 sorts of pizza to choose from (including several ‘white’ versions, without a tomato base), but the menu is also big on pasta – try
anything from spag bol to farfalle with pancetta, cabbage and pine nuts. Otherwise, look to the trattoria staples if you want a full blow-out: start with insalata caprese or beef carpaccio, before
sampling escalope of veal milanese or baked lemon sole with garlic butter. Reasonably priced wines too.
