Downstairs, this Greenwich bar is friendly but tacky-looking. Upstairs, the Piano Restaurant has a bit more swagger – almost enough to carry off Rat Pack posters, fairy lights & chandeliers
that double as mini fish tanks, with glass spheres at the centre containing water, coloured glass & real, live goldfish. As they swim above, diners listen to the tinkle of the house ivories
& order from a menu whose international excesses have been slightly tamed since our last visit. Meat comes from Deptford’s Wellbeloved, so rib-eye steaks & rack of lamb are a solid bet;
Sunday roasts add slow-roast belly pork with simple accompaniments to the meaty mix. Back downstairs, happy hour has the potential to be rowdy – house wine is £7 a bottle.
