As a long-serving branch of the Made in Italy group, Napule’s trump cards are honest Neapolitan cuisine and signature ‘pizzametro’ (pizza by the metre) – a good-value deal for birthday parties, big families and twentysomethings seeking a cheap night out. Despite its tawdry location at the scruffy end of Fulham Broadway, the place fairly buzzes with life and Mediterranean bonhomie. Start with ‘frittura’ of squid and courgettes or some home-baked bruschetta fresh from the wood-fired oven, before moving on to the main event. Choose your pizza toppings from a range of refreshingly authentic flavours (Gorgonzola, porcini, Parma ham, artichokes et al), or go off-piste with one of the meaty grills or pasta dishes (maybe rigatoni with meatballs, aubergines and cherry tomatoes). Plump Italian wines are on hand to back everything up, along with a roll call of patriotic desserts.
