With stints at the St John Hotel and Hix Soho under his belt, chef Matt Edwards has struck out alone and launched his own gaff in what was Yelo Thai. Entitled Master & Servant, the new venue is
an on-trend restaurant and cocktail bar inspired by Manhattan, but with allegiances to native British producers. The char-grill holds centre stage on a seasonal menu that might offer home-smoked
meats, ox cheek with celeriac and horseradish, Hereford porterhouse for two and crab claws with chipotle mayo. Alternatively, pitch up at the bar and nibble on potted haddock or back fat on toast.
The drinks list gives equal billing to carefully sourced European wines and zesty cocktails (created in conjunction with Hoxton neighbour, Happiness Forgets). As for the decor, think exposed
brickwork, mirrored tiles, distressed floors and reclaimed dairy lights.
