SquareMeal Review of La P'tite Folie - Randolph Place

The second of Virginie Brouard’s Edinburgh restaurants, this quirky little first floor restaurant in a mock Tudor building just off Charlotte Square has taken over from the original in Frederick Street, which opened in 1997. More of a bistro than a restaurant, this is ‘comfortable shoes’ dining in the bourgeois style – rustic, Gallic-inspired food, with steak-frites always providing a sensible fall-back position. If beef isn’t your thing, seek comfort in the likes of herb-crusted carpaccio of venison with port jus, roast pork fillet with Dijon mustard sauce or grilled sea bass with tagliatelle, crab and white wine cream. Set lunches are terrific value, while the adjoining all-day wine bar, Le Di-Vin, is somewhere to while away the time with a glass or two and something light to eat.
