L'Anima remains a sure-fire hit with readers: "fabulous", '"the best", "a consistently enjoyable experience with really chic service" – the tributes just keep coming. Minimalist white surroundings, high ceilings and glass walls provide the backdrop for some passionate Italian cooking and cutting-edge techniques from head chef Antonio Favuzzi – although high prices reflect fastidious sourcing and the meticulous work that goes into dishes threaded with Sardinian, Sicilian and Puglian influences. The seasonal focus yields impressive flavours, from antipasti of chopped raw beef with black truffle and quail's egg to ravioli of langoustines and prawns in lobster broth. To follow, pan-fried brill with spicy sausages and artichokes is a perfect balance of fiery meat and delicate fish, while marinated black cod in Prosecco with palourde clams is a dish of pure unadulterated indulgence. Equally stellar desserts might promise Amalfi lemon soufflé or peach and almond tart with liquorice crumble. The cool dining room can feel rather soulless, but "immaculate" staff, a characterful bar and glorious regional Italian wines help to redress the balance at this City aristocrat.

The private dining room imitates a Cistercian crypt with its high curved ceiling and limestone walls, offering guests a truly intimate and memorable experience. This room can seat up to fifteen people, and guests are able to select from a specially created private dining menu.
The L’Anima mezzanine tables allows guests to enjoy the flavours of the private dining menu in their own section of the L’Anima restaurant, whilst still enjoying the atmosphere of the dining room floor. The Mezzanine can accommodate up to eight guests on one round table or 14 guests on one square table.
Through a clear door, guests can enjoy the views of the bustling bar while dining amongst the tantalising wine racks filled with treasures from Italy. The wine cellar can accommodate up to seven people and guests are able to dine A la Carte.
