Even in an area packed with Vietnamese delights, you can’t miss Kêu! with its bright, neon green signage & glass windows, giving you a peek of glistening, hanging meat, sleek interiors &
colourful bottles of chilli & fish sauces, creating the mood for what Kêu! does best: banh mi, a sort of Vietnamese baguette. From the same stable as Viet Grill & Cay Tre, Kêu!’s team
manages to dish out traditional fillings such as barbecue pork with coriander or xiu mai (pork meatballs in spicy gravy), but also introduces soon-to-be-favourites like the juicy & surprisingly
filling Kêu! classic: pork belly with ham terrine & chicken liver pâté, all snug between crusty, fluffy baguettes. Although primarily a speedy takeaway service, there is also a small eat-in
area. An ever-changing daily specials board features hot dishes, salads & crisp spring rolls, while Vietnamese coffee & fresh juice are also on offer.
This is a fairly short and snappy blog post about a lunch I had last week at Keu in Shoreditch. I’d walked past the restaurant many times and it always looked to be popular. I wasn’t exactly sure what food they served, except that I’d seen something about ‘Vietnamese Baguettes’ which sounded pretty damn incredible! As you may know, I’m a bit of a sandwich fiend, so it was about time I went in there to see what was going on!
