For years Steve Kendell & Martin Spalding were food heroes in Leeds, enjoying conspicuous success at Paris & Leodis. Now Kendell has gone it alone with an informal bistro venture set in a basement beside the College of Music & the BBC. The menu borrows from all four corners of France, showing serious intent with soupe de poissons with Gruyere, rouille & croutons or trout mousseline for starters, followed by old faithfuls in steak au poivre, carre d’agneau or boeuf bourguignon & maybe creme brulee or floating islands to finish. French chandeliers & an art deco mural add Gallic charm & atmosphere.
