Square Meal Review of Hawksmoor Seven Dials ?

Best Restaurants - Steak - Winner As the Hawksmoor steakhouse group continues to expand, the Seven Dials branch in the former Watney-Combe brewery retains a loyal following from readers who love the “intimate atmosphere” of the barrel-vaulted basement dining room. Striking vintage styling and reclaimed features give this outlet “the most character” of the lot. There’s plenty more to praise here too, from “epic” 35-day-aged steaks courtesy of The Ginger Pig, and “wonderful” Sunday roasts to “fantastic”, “really friendly” service. Sides and starters are every bit as good as the main event, incorporating perfectly crisp triple-cooked chips and gut-busting mac ‘n’ cheese, as well as rich potted beef and bacon with fluffy Yorkshires and finger-licking Tamworth belly ribs. Take our advice and save space for the signature salted-caramel rolos. Bar staff know their stuff, so expect quality cocktails, plus a well-sourced wine list that’s ideally matched with the meat. Monday BYO is a boon, too.

sexdrugsandbaconrolls :: Hawksmoor – Seven Dials

In this unassuming side street of Covent Garden is a black wrought iron door that once pushed leads on to one of the best steak houses (arguably) in London. The Hawksmoor is one of four steak restaurants (Air Street recently opened), which are all located in London.

As we pushed open the door we were welcomed into a dark reception area, where we gave our names and coats. Our bags and coats were stored in huge wardrobes that looked as though they came from Narnia...

Wrap Your Lips Around This :: Hawksmoor Seven Dials

Hawksmoor is a British steakhouse serving well-sourced beef and we-mean-business cocktails. Although a simple proposition, the difficulty in securing a booking is enough to see how popular the theme is. It is in this wisdom that there are now four branches across London, the Hawksmoor Seven Dials restaurant located in Covent Garden.

The dearest items on the menu are the sharing steaks, priced at £7.50-£13 per 100g depending on the cut. The size of the cuts varies from a manageable 600g portion, to a freakish 1000g. A quick mental arithmetic is all it takes to see that prices can escalate and quickly...

laymytable :: Hawksmoor – Seven Dials

This experience was like the feeling you get when you’ve been anticipating a holiday, a much needed one, for a very, very long time. You could never quite get enough time off work, you didn’t have the money or you didn’t know who to go with and just when you’ve almost given up…you’re packing your bags and on your way to the holiday destination that dreams are made of. This is how I felt about dining at Hawksmoor. High expectations yes, but rightly so, the restaurant has been dubbed ‘the best steak in London’ it has been hailed as the new breed of modern meets old school, a steak house to trump all steak houses and...

  1. Among London steak aficionados Hawksmoor is known as one, if not the, best steakhouse(s) in town. Instead of pandering to my steak craving I decided to indulge in some burgers and hotdogs. The interior of Hawksmoor Seven Dials is that of a dark-wood US steakhouse. I personally like it a lot and the ambiance in the place is very nice as well. Apart from a formal dining area they also have a bar area where I sat this time (I prefer sitting behind the bar as I find it provides for better ambiance)...

  1. We’ve frequented Hawksmoor Sevendails for years now, but since last year or so it’s become one of my destination of choice for top primo burgers. The nice touch at Hawksmoor Sevendails is that in addition to their legendary Hawksmoor burger they always have the Kimchi burger and the Burger of the month available...

  1. What is on offer: Some of the best steaks and burgers in town. The Seven Dials branch has a different burger each month (aside from the regular burger). I’ve tried many of them and have not once been disappointed. I can’t wait for my next visit (having visions of steaks and burgers as I’m writing)...

  1. Hawksmoor is one of those restaurants you never hear or read bad things about, with high remarks from many bloggers and diners all over London it’s no wonder it’s always been at the top of my list.

I finally managed to drag the OH on a cold winters day down to Hawksmoor in Seven Dials to see what all the fuss is about.

The interior of the restaurant is oozing with British decadence and decorated with leather seating and wooden panels. Not particularly my style, but fits perfectly for the atmosphere and cuisine of Hawksmoor...

KOJO London :: The Best Burgers in London.

I've been to Hawksmoor before and I was actually going to give it it's own separate review but the pictures I took didn't do the place justice (due to the poor lighting) so I decided not to go through with it. It's no secret that Hawksmoor serves one of the best steaks in London so they must know how to serve up a good old beef patty.

It was quite an unexpected turn of events as I went to the Air Street branch and soon realised they didn't serve the Hawksmoor Burger. I was so desperate to try out this legendary dish that I went straight to the Seven Dials branch. Once again, I was seated at the bar counter...

  1. With Christmas being the time for giving I had limited myself to 1 Christmas burger but with Byron, Honest and Hawksmoor all doing a Christmas Special that I wanted; I had a big decision to make. Big decision maybe over doing it, but in terms of a burger... huge!

With Hawksmoor offering turkey rather than beef they pipped the others to my money, me being a traditionalist...

London - Girl About Town :: Hawksmoor Seven Dials

It's not every day I get to try a top-twenty UK restaurant (eighteenth according to last year's National Restaurant Awards) but hooray for birthdays, as on mine I got treated to dinner at Hawksmoor Seven Dials - happy days!

If you're eating at the Hawksmoor, you're eating steak. I had therefore thought my customary faffing around over the menu and angsting over meal envy wouldn't be an issue, having forgotten about their legendary cocktail list. Reminiscent of a time when cocktails were considered practically medicinal rather than served in fish bowls with umbrellas and sparklers,...

  1. Here’s to the beginning of Panda Eats London. What better way to kick it off than with a restaurant that has been on my hit list since I heard about their much-lauded steak.

Hawksmoor’s usual price point for steak would put it out of reach for me but they deliver an affordable express menu at Seven Dials, totalling at £24 for 2 courses or £27 for 3 courses, which to me sounds like a bloody good deal for steak...
