Chicken-themed eateries are all over the capital these days, and Galeto has joined the party with its Brazilian street-food take on our favourite feathered bird. Top billing goes to juicy
half-chickens that are marinated, grilled and doused in a subtle, coriander-laced sauce, while the rest of the short menu offers impressively light salt-cod fritters, gooey cheese-filled dough
balls and refreshing palm heart salad, plus heavily seasoned chicken burgers with skin-on fries and some indulgent tropical desserts. To drink, try Brahma beer, a turbo-charged caipirinha,
well-priced South American wines or an invigorating acai-berry smoothie. The restaurant’s colourful frontage, gaily painted dining rooms and smiley staff perpetuate the sunny-side-up ideal of
Brazilian culture, while hip-shaking samba beats fuel the Rio Carnival vibes. Galeto should really come into its own in 2014, as Brazil World Cup fever starts to grip the nation.
