SquareMeal Review of Fifteen Cornwall

Literally on the beach overlooking one of Cornwall’s funkiest surfing destinations, this hip outpost of Jamie Oliver’s Fifteen is a tie-in between the pukka chef and the Cornwall Food Foundation (part of JO’s apprentice programme for disadvantaged youngsters). Seasonal Cornish ingredients and imported Italian provisions come together on a menu that delivers on all fronts – from breakfast, early-evening antipasti and kids’ deals to the full works (with wine pairings). Vigorous rustic dishes are the deal, from campanelle pasta with slow-cooked cuttlefish, olives and tomatoes to duck breast with polenta, wild mushroom and agro dulce or wood-fired monkfish dressed with peperonata and salmoriglio sauce. Dry-aged Longhorn steaks also feature, while desserts might include Sicilian cassata with pistachio and candied orange. Jaw-dropping sandscapes, dreamy sunsets and crashing Atlantic waves add to the thrill of it all, whether you’re outside or gazing from the restaurant’s wraparound windows.

Sunday brunch by the sea
Second year in a row we've decide to spend Easter Sunday brunching at Jamie's fifteen at watergate bay. Full English was delicious as we're the eggy bread with fruit and marscapone. Coffee is high quality and the service is friendly and efficient. Best of all is the amazing location and view. Wonderful to be sitting in the warm eating delicious hearty breakfast with the view of the surf and sea beyond. May have to do it all again next year!

Flew into Newquay airport & was pleased to find the restaurant just a 10 minute ride away. Absolutey my favourite restaurant of the year. The setting is just amazing, it's as if the restaurant has been carved into the cliff face & overlooks the most stunning beach. The windows are floor to ceiling & span the entire length of the place. The decor is fab & the open kitchen makes for a great spectacle. I had the best risotto I have ever tasted & all of our party argued that each of their dishes was the best! Service was great, really friendly…as if they had been taught by the man himself. Every aspect of the dining experience has been thought of & this is truly one of those places you just have to visit. The only downside to this place is that if you visit on a gorgeous day they have no outside space, although if you can nab a window table, these open back. The day we visited it was pouring down so we were not disappointed. All I can say is bag yourself a cheap flight & get down there! Truly Fab.
