Squaremeal Review of Duke's Brew & Que ?

Black Betty Black and Big Bowser the Beef Wowser are not two indie bands up for the Mercury Prize, but a terrific IPA (the former) and a double burger with American cheese, bacon and fried onions (the latter). The clue’s in the name: this 18th-century pub specialises in own-brew beers and hearty platefuls of BBQ meats – “some of the finest around” thinks one fan. There’s real love for the red stuff here, with free-range pork ribs smoked over hickory and apple-cherry wood, or rib of grass-fed beef from County Armagh infused by the embers of hickory and mesquite. You’ll also find sliders and burgers (including a veggie version), and sides of fried pickles and chilli fries. Beavertown brews provide the lubrication (the aforementioned Betty, Gamma Ray American Pale Ale or Smog Rocket Smoked Porter) along with various craft beers and ciders from the UK and USA. Our verdict? It’s laid-back and good fun.

#FatInside :: #FatInside: Dukes Brew and Que, Haggerston

A stone’s throw away from Hoxton, you'll find a modest converted boozer that offers Southern American food with a range of craft beers. Dukes has a reputation for their Barbecue food, offering some of the best in London but they also offer a brunch on weekend mornings from 11am – 3pm. We decided to visit late on Sunday morning to try the American brunch.
