Square Meal Review of Blackfoot ?

“Pork, pork and more wonderful pork” exclaimed a reader after visiting Blackfoot – a buzzy, bijou shrine to all things piggy spread over two levels. The printed menu offers a “cornucopia of porcine delights”, from rosemary-infused whipped lardo on sourdough toast to finger-lickin’ sticky ribs, long-smoked pork belly and an Ibérico burger of such juicy intensity it’s verging on the obscene. Elsewhere, char-grilled fillet with a “gorgeously flavoured” hunk of cabbage and cannellini beans did the business for one recipient on a cold winter’s night. Sides of crunchy pecan coleslaw and earthy braised lentils are the perfect foil to all those smoky, fatty delights, while pig-themed sweetness appears in the shape of a zany peanut butter and bacon semifreddo. Impeccable sourcing extends to the short drinks list, which includes pork-friendly craft ciders and “good-value rustic wines on tap”.

Frenchy love food :: BLACKFOOT EC1

Blackfoot EC1 opened last December in Exmouth Market, it specialises in pork dishes.
Since they opened, I have been twice, first time was few months ago for a dinner when they opened, and the second time was last Sunday for their new brunch offer.
The restaurant is divided in two small rooms, one at the front with the bar and tiles on the wall and the other room at the back with old advertising posters. The decoration is minimalist and I like it.

For starters we shared with my friend Trevelez jamon and whipped lardo on sourdough toast. Trevelez jamon was very good but nothing compare to the whipped...

Samphire and Salsify :: Blackfoot, Exmouth Market

My first visit to Blackfoot in Exmouth Market, a restaurant specialising in all things piggy, wasn’t a hugely successful one; the staff were lovely but I found the food a tad disappointing. I was pleasantly surprised when I received an email inviting me back and I must say, our experience was the polar opposite of my original one.

We arrived to a packed restaurant; the atmosphere was really lively and buzzy. It used to be an old pie and mash shop and many of the original features, like the tiled walls and the large wooden booths, remain untouched, giving the place plenty of character...

Samphire and Salsify :: Blackfoot, Exmouth Market

Exmouth Market isn’t short of great places to eat, with the likes of Morito, Moro, Caravan and Medcalf. New kid on the block Blackfoot, which specialises in all things porky, replaces an old school pie and mash shop which apparently could no longer afford the rent.

Inside they’d kept the old pie shop vibe with booth tables on the right and a long bar on the left. There was also a small bright orange dining room out the back with tightly packed tables. It was a plain and simple space...

  1. There’s no shortage of steak and burger restaurants in London, but very few dedicated to pork. Although some may think that the pig is inferior to the cow, pork definitely has its own unique charms – all it takes is the right cut of pork in the hands of a great chef. Blackfoot is dedicated to pork – apart from a few vegetarian dishes and a fish of the day, it’s all about the pig at this small restaurant on Islington’s Exmouth Market.

Service was friendly and chatty on all of my visits...

Munch My Way :: Blackfoot, Exmouth Market

Blackfoot is a pig-centred restaurant right in Exmouth Market. Opened by Tom Ward and Allergra McEvedy to celebrate their love for the protein.

The pork they supply comes from Dingley Dell in Suffolk. Thats one of the best pork around in the UK. I once had it at Bread Street Kitchen and it was amazing in term of its natural flavour...

Dips Dines :: Blackfoot - Piggy heaven? Not quite. | Dips Dines

With its home at the foodie paradise that is Exmouth Market, i had high hopes for Blackfoot, a restaurant solely dedicated to all that is pork. Inside, it exudes a homely feel albeit with a nice social buzz, and the split level separates the space; booths at the raucous front half and smaller tables at the much quieter back half. The place was full of young & trendy diners on a Saturday night when i visited, just as you’d expect from the areWith its home at the foodie paradise that is Exmouth Market, i had high hopes for Blackfoot, a restaurant solely dedicated to all that is pork.
