Ben’s Canteen serves fine beers, wines and eclectic street food to the chattering classes who ping-pong between this increasingly interesting Wandsworth enclave and nearby Northcote Road. A
relaxed, postmodern woody interior with retro styling and alfresco tables sets the scene for child-friendly breakfasts (served all day), dinner and everything in between. Order brunch classics
(with bloody Marys), flatbreads and ‘big juicy burgers’ or dip into the list of ‘canteen specials’ (BBQ chicken wings, Asian-style pork broth, mac ‘n’ cheese Scotch eggs, ‘pimped-up’ pork nachos
etc). Bigger plates might feature, say, grilled bream with courgette, carrot and noodle salad, while puds could bring orange and almond tart. There’s also plenty for fans of cappuccino and cake.
Meanwhile, drinks run from mainstream cocktails (old fashioned, sloe spritz, pear and cinnamon Bellini) to beers from Meantime and other craft brewers at tolerable prices.

Sadly he started nomming before I could...

On Sunday we met with three of Mr D's university friends and headed down for 11am to be seated straight away - perfect! once seated however the queue was beginning to form so we consider ourselves lucky...
