A Champagne & piano bar that is squarely aimed at Birmingham’s well-to-do, Bar Epernay uses quality sourcing to make sure its food is up to the fizz. It offers good, brasserie-style fare, epitomised by Morecambe Bay potted shrimps, caramelized goats’ cheese en croute with slow baked pear, rocket salad & red onion marmalade, excellent Aberdeenshire beef tournedos, & baked whole sea bass with a sweet mustard, caper & chive butter. The decor is stylish but user-friendly, with a trendy, centrally placed open-flame fire, cool sounds in the background, & a revolving grand piano – a nice touch, though perhaps not after too much Champagne.
