The riverside terrace at this new-build bar-restaurant is the prime reason to visit. The view to Battersea Power Station is one of the Thames’ more urban scenes, but picturesque nonetheless, & best enjoyed with a two-for-one pizza or pasta: a deal that makes the generally high prices more tolerable. Aqua’s menu reads like that of a mid-market Italian joint from 20 years ago, with Fiorentina & calzone pizzas joined by spaghetti Bolognese, chicken & mushroom tagliatelle, & lasagne. Cooking is of a decent quality, however. In the evening, there’s a choice of unadventurous Anglo-Italian dishes: perhaps sautéed king prawns followed by fillet of salmon with new potatoes & white-wine sauce. Inside, the new surroundings can seem rather characterless, but a bottle from the workmanlike wine list adds some cheer.
