Smack in the centre of a pretty, low-lying Yorkshire Wolds village, this spick & span, whitewashed 18th-century pub comes complete with a flagged forecourt, a welcoming porch & a huge
garden with views across open fields. Inside, period features are mixed in with some luxurious contemporary touches, & the menu shows its allegiance to sound local ingredients. Pigeon from the
Ledston Estate turns up in a short-crust pie, toad-in-the-hole is given a veggie twist, & local pork fillet comes with homemade black pudding, chorizo & a red pepper sauce. After that, go
for some farmhouse cheese served the old Yorkshire way with a slice of fruit cake. Ye Olde Deli at the back of the pub is also worth a browse before you leave.
