Colourful cartoons of Asian street vendors brighten up the rather functional canteen-style interior of Urban Choola – a cut-price Indian eatery/takeaway opened by local hero Khalid Wani (known for
his Mexican gaff Amigos just up the road). The short menu offer a snapshot of street food from across the subcontinent, taking in chaats, kathi rolls (flatbreads) with masala chips, dosa pancakes,
bhel-puris and some more filling items including tandooris and kebabs, biryanis and classic curries such as lamb vindaloo or chicken makhani. There are also a few sweets in the shape of carrot
halwa, chocolate brownie cheesecake and ice cream. If you can’t make up your mind, plump for one of the all-in thalis (terrific value at around a tenner). Unlicensed, but you can drink mango lassi,
Coke, non-alcoholic beer or masala chai.
