East London’s old railway arches are fast becoming London’s finest foodie hangouts. Up there with the best is Trip Kitchen, a ‘modern Turkish’ at the TripSpace Projects cultural complex by Regent’s
Canal. Brick walls and colourful chairs are perfectly in keeping with a space that morphs from coffee shop via serene lunch spot to happening bar/restaurant within the course of a day. This year’s
‘chef in residence’ is Selin Kiazim (ex-Kopapa), whose small-plates menu mines her Turkish-Cypriot heritage while scouring the globe. Expect
köfte, kisir and grilled hellim (haloumi) alongside more ‘out there’ choices such as miso chicken wings with çemen (Turkish tomato paste). At lunch, the bacon and date butter sandwich is a modern
classic in the making, and menemen (Turkish scrambled eggs) are a favourite. Drinks include Caravan coffee, fashionable spritzs and Crate draught beer.
