Square Meal Review of The Rum Kitchen ?

This colourful eatery evokes the sights, sounds and flavours of the Caribbean for the offspring of ageing Notting Hillbillies. Cross the threshold and you’ll hear sunny reggae beats blaring from the stereo, smell sizzling meats and see West Indian patois slogans painted on the bright red, yellow and green-striped walls. Plentiful, sparky options abound: try rib-sticking salt-fish fritters perked up with chilli jam or pork belly with buttery succotash and smoky BBQ sauce. For dessert, rum-soaked chocolate cake with chocolate sauce is best tackled with two spoons. Unfortunately, service runs at a London gallop rather than a Bridgetown stroll – a more relaxed West Indian vibe would help matters no end.
