In the tiny village of Llandenny, The Raglan Arms doubles as a faithful local and a dining destination. Slate floors and comfy sofas abound inside, and the menus run from hearty pub classics to
restaurant-style fare. At the gutsy end of the menu you might find homemade burgers, char-grilled minute steaks and lunchtime fillers such as rare roast-beef sandwiches with horseradish, fries and
salad. If you prefer something a little different, look to starters of imam bayildi with crème fraîche, Thai fishcakes, or wild mushroom risotto with parsley root and truffle oil, followed by roast
rump of lamb with dauphinoise potato and crispy sweetbreads, or roast cod fillet with crab linguine. Meanwhile, desserts focus on old favourites such as apple and blueberry crumble with custard or
crème caramel with caramelised figs and cantuccini biscuits.
