Follow a stroll in Brockwell Park with a well-kept pint or bite to eat at this gentrified boozer. Friendly staff, scrubbed pine tables & board games engender a home-from-home feel. A short menu
of pub classics (soup, sausage & mash, burger & chips) is supplemented by more ambitious specials such as stuffed rabbit with celeriac gratin, or grilled rump of lamb with tapenade jus.
Standards are mostly high, but prices rise with the chef’s aspirations. On Monday evenings, however, two courses cost just £11. The bar has Black Sheep, three guest ales & cider on draught,
plus myriad foreign bottled beers. This being nappy-valley territory, parents & tots descend for brunch during the daytime. The pavement terrace (pleasant, despite the Dulwich Road traffic)
provides some respite in summer.
