A suitably toasty place to hole up in winter, the Parrot Inn is high on charm – a giddy jumble of low beams, flagstone floors, blazing fire, nooks and crannies, plus a pitch-perfect setting
overlooking a wide stretch of village green for those who enjoy fine-weather alfresco opportunities. Where possible, meat is sourced from the owners’ farm in Dorking, so expect fine cuts of beef,
mutton and Saddleback pork in hearty, wholesome dishes, alongside seasonal game (pigeon pastrami and buttered kale on toasted rye bread, say) and fish – herb-baked hake with roasted fennel, white
bean and chervil sauce, for example. Cask-conditioned ales join a dependable selection of wines, and there’s also a farm shop – should you wish to stock up on sausages, bacon, pies and farmhouse
cheeses after your meal.
